Frequently asked questions
I have flies in my house but my machine is not catching them!
Are the flies in your house, House flies? Have you changed the attractant strips recently? There are thousands of species of flying insects that we could easily mistake for the house fly, there are those annoying flies that hover and just do not seem to land on anything, and there is the fruit fly these are not as damaging as the house fly. Flyslayer attracts house flies.
Will my machine attract my neighbours flies?
Flyslayer Maxi operates within a 50m2 radius and only attracts flies in the immediate vicinity Flyslayer Mini operates within a 20m2 radius.
Will my machine catch mosquitoes?
No mosquitoes are attracted to totally different types of bait mainly us.
Do I have to leave the flies buzzing around in the box?
No you don’t, but we would advise you to! The reason the Flyslayer works is by attracting, then trapping them and encouraging other flies to follow suit. Flies watch Flies and once they have found a food source they release there own come and get it message to all there friends and family and hey presto they are more interested in that message then your dinner plate.
My machine has started to squeak a bit!
We have found that you need to clean off the square rollers from time to time with an alcohol based wipe as the sugar solution build up sticks to the rollers and as the velvet flap on the underside of the machine passes over the roller it tends to stick and make a squeaking noise, Also sometimes the flap is over tightened during production, but by gently pushing down on the flap this will loosen the spring slightly and so stop the squeak.
Can I have a different colour?
Research has found that flies are attracted to light reflecting surfaces and our inventor has assured us this is the most effective colour to attract flies.
How often should I clean the machine?
It is best to clean the machine once a week with warm soapy water, but do not immerse the main body itself in water!
How often should I spray the bait strips?
On a normal day once is sufficient. In very hot weather twice a day, remember to spray just the strips and to dry off the roller of any excess water or sugar solution.
Do I need to turn off the machine when spraying the bait strips?
It is strongly advised to turn off the FlySlayer whilst spraying and wiping off any excess solution before spraying the next bait strip. DO NOT force the roller by hand but turn on the machine to move the roller along to the next bait strip. This will prolong the FlySlayer´s life.
How long do the bait strips last?
We would advise changing the bait strips every 45 days for the Flyslayer to perform at it’s best. Strips are available from your local agent.
My FlySlayer is catching Wasps! Is something wrong?
We have had reports from Australia and India of this happening. We have not seen this ourselves, nor do we claim this to be the case. However, regard this as a bonus, especially around August and September!
